Mini Skirts for Mini Trees #2, 3 and 4!

Last week I posted about my first mini skirt for my mini trees, and this week I am happy to update that three more are complete.  There are at least four more to do, if I can manage it, and perhaps more hiding in boxes I haven't yet opened.

It's like the Doctor Who Christmas invasion - Christmas trees are everywhere - living room, dining room, craft room, spare bedroom ...  they've just sprung up here there and everywhere.   In preparation for my upcoming craft show, I'm sprucing up my mini Christmas Trees and editing their ornaments.  Each one has such a lot of character with a huge variety of trimmings and garland.

I've finished my first tree skirt of the year - and just in time for a "Finished Object Friday" to boot.   I've kept this one simple - without fancy stitches or fancy yarns - and it has worked up pretty quickly.

Stop the presses -  my in-laws have a Christmas tree. For the first time since I met my husband (many, many, many moons ago) my mother and father-in-law put up a Christmas Tree last year.  They would decorate, but because of many animals in the home avoided the tree.  I just couldn't let such an exciting development as this go without making them a tree skirt, so this is the one I made for them - and it is loaded with a variety of the faux fur yarns.

I've recently been taking out the myriad Christmas Tree skirts that I was making earlier this year.  I was in such a frenzy at the time, with several in production simultaneously (one of the reasons I prefer crochet to knitting, where you feel handcuffed to things 'on the needles') that I didn't photograph projects, or clearly remember all the different styles and sizes that I'd made.  It's been fun to rediscover them.

WIP Wednesday - Burgundy Christmas Tree Skirt

 Woohoo, I've made it ... for my first "Work in Progress Wednesday" posting.  It's never a problem to find a project that is "in progress" as there are altogether too many of those, but it has proven quite the challenge to remember that it is Wednesday - and then get organized enough to photograph and post about something.

The Trees are all Skirted

I have 6 Christmas trees this year, but one of them (which is just the top half of my big tree) is in a pot where a cactus once lived, so it doesn't need a tree skirt. The rest are all decked out with tree skirts of their very own as I managed to make 5 this year. Here is the finished product I last showed you in progress.

30 Days

The Christmas countdown clock says 30 days ...GULP! Why that's no time at all for cards and presents and wrapping and cooking and baking and cleaning and decorating and entertaining and ... phew. There is nothing to be done but embrace it. It's the Christmas season!

Drum roll please. Perhape even some fireworks .... a job is DONE! I thought before I set off making all sorts of things with my wool 'bits', I had better first determine whether they were in fact 'leftover bits' or wool I still needed for the myriad projects on the go. So first up in the pile of projects, this Christmas Tree skirt.

Reading through other crafters' blogs I feel much less guilty about the amount of projects I constantly have 'on the go'. And this blogging format is definitely motivation to get out that (insert any project) that has needed just a teeny little bit more work for (insert any number of weeks/months/years). So, just needing to sew in some threads and add some ties, the first of my crochet Christmas tree skirts is done!
